The loss of a beloved friend

My four-legged friend died on Wednesday. I am still hurting so bad that I can barely speak about it.
We've been together for almost 14 years, the very first time we've seen each other he reached out and kissed me... and before he drew his last 3 breaths he turned his head to kiss me good-bye.
The only good thing is that he didn't suffer too much. The night before he brought me his toys, as usual, and we were playing before falling asleep. The next morning I woke up to his wailing and in about 4 hours he was gone forever.

I don't have many photos of him and his fur was so black that you couldn't tell his features in a photo - not enough contrast. But here are a few I have...

You'll never be forgotten my faithful friend.

So sorry for your loss, I can even imagine the pain, and my dog is so loved too.
But what matters is he was loved and they know that.

Condolenses dear Mada :(

I too understand your pain - it has been 2 1/2 years since I lost Buddy and I cant take myself to take his photo off of my screen saver.

Remember the good times and he will always be with you!!!

With love

Laura

Oh, Mada, I'm so sorry to read this news! I hope you're doing ok today? Sounds like he was the most wonderful and affectionate friend for all those years. Such a handsome boy from the photos and you have good memories for the future. I know how strong the attachment is, my dog is nearly ten now and I dread the day when we lose him. Thinking about you and take care of yourself. Big hugs, Chris.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
